Caritas
Caritas is the committee that serves funeral lunches at St. Mary’s. The word comes from the Greek for “hospitality’. It is indeed a mark of how our church provides caring for those in grief.. If your family has been a recipient of this service, you know how much it means to have this done for you and not to worry about it.
Because funerals are unpredictable, we need a large list of both men and women who would be willing to help out. You serve and clean-up, and there is always someone to direct you. The family is charged for the food plus a small tip for the serving. This tip goes into a special account which is used to purchase items for the church (usually involving food service).

In the past, we have contributed to the purchase of the fellowship drapes, bought most of the round tables in the fellowship hall, maintained the appliances in the kitchen and many other needs of St. Mary’s over the years. However, the primary reason for the existence of Caritas is to provide comfort, in the form of a meal, to the grieving families of St. Mary’s.
Please contact Alyce Pinnola for more information on how you can contribute to Caritas. Call the church office at 658-3555.
